IF YOU THOUGHT THAT ELECTRIC BIKES FELL INTO THE CATEGORY OF "NICE IDEA BUT A BIT TOO TREEHUGGING/DAFT LOOKING FOR ME" YOU'RE NOT ALONE – WE THOUGHT IT TOO.

but then WE SAW THE NEW RIDE+ BIKES FROM TREK AND WE WERE SHOCKED. THEY ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE NORMAL BIKES – AND WHEN RIDING ONE YOU ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE A NORMAL CYCLIST (UNTIL YOU START OVERTAKING THINGS WHEN YOU'RE GOING UP A STEEP HILL).

We never thought that electric bikes would create such a buzz here at Mud Dock. As a group of experienced cyclists, this alien machine with its hybrid technology and electirc motor seemed like some form of cheating.

However, after few runs up Park Street on our demo model we were all smiles. The Trek Ride+ electric assist bikes multiply pedal input thus making you feel as if you have legs of steel. Hills are where the Ride+ bikes really shine. 15mph up Park Street was a doddle.

As well as the FX+ featured in the photo, the range includes women-specific models such as the FX+ WSD.
